Progress states explained
Participants show up with colour tags, status words, and review labels in a few different places. This is what each one actually means, and how they relate to each other.

DASHBOARD → PARTICIPANTS
Each bundle a participant belongs to shows as a coloured tag on their row. Colour is decided per bundle, and only counts what's required — optional items never block a bundle from showing Completed.
COMPLETED
Green, check-circle icon. Every required item currently counts as passed and unexpired.
IN PROGRESS
Orange, hourglass icon. At least one item has been attempted, but not every required one is cleared.
EXPIRED
Red, warning icon. A required item was passed once, but its Validity (days) window has since run out.
NOT STARTED
Grey, no icon. Nothing recorded against this bundle at all yet.

Course status, inside a bundle or the courses report
Click a bundle tag, or open the courses report, and each course inside gets its own status word:
PASSED
Currently meets the pass requirement, and the completion hasn't expired.
EXPIRED
Passed once, but that specific completion's Validity (days) window has ended.
NOT PASSED
An attempt exists, and it did not meet the pass requirement.
PENDING
Other Courses only — a certificate has been uploaded and is waiting on your review.
NOT STARTED
No attempt or upload exists yet for this course.
Other Courses review status
On the participant detail page, an Other Course certificate submission is marked Approved (you reviewed and accepted it), Under Review (waiting on you) or Rejected (you reviewed and declined it) — separate from the Passed/Pending/Not Started words used for course completions above.
A COMMON MISTAKE
Reading Not Started as a failure. It only means no attempt exists yet — a real failed attempt shows Not Passed instead, and a course that was passed but has since lapsed shows Expired, not Not Started.
If something isn't working
A bundle tag suddenly turned red
A required course's Validity (days) window has ended since it was last passed. Open the bundle's progress to see which course expired and when.
A course shows Not Started but the participant says they did it
Check the courses report for every attempt on file — it may have been recorded against a different bundle, or a translated variant of the course, than the one you're looking at.
What next
For the full breakdown behind any one status, run the courses report on that participant.
