HELP / CLIENTS / GIVE A CLIENT ACCESS TO THE CLIENT PORTAL

Give a client access to the client portal

The client portal is a scaled-down dashboard where a client can sign in and see their own assigned courses and bundles. Access is off by default and turned on per client from a password you set.

BEFORE YOU START

The client needs an Email Address on file first — it doubles as their portal login username. If it's missing, the Portal Access tab shows a warning and links you straight to the Email tab.

Set a portal password

Open the client's edit page and go to the Portal Access tab. A status line at the top tells you whether the client can currently sign in.

1

Open Clients, choose Edit on the client, then open the Portal Access tab.

2

Type a New Password of at least 8 characters, or choose Suggest password to generate a random one. Repeat it in Confirm Password.

3

Choose Enable Portal Access (the same button reads Update Password once access already exists).

Send the invitation

Once a password is set, a Send Invitation section appears below it.

4

Choose Send Invitation Email. It goes to the client's email address with a link to the login page. The password itself is not included — you'll need to share that separately, since it isn't stored anywhere in plain text after you set it.

The client signs in from the same login page you use, using their email address and the password you set. It routes them to their own portal dashboard rather than the admin dashboard, and they only see courses and bundles assigned to them.

A COMMON MISTAKE

Sending the invitation email does not set or reset the password — it only re-sends the login link. If the client has forgotten their password, set a new one on this tab first, then send the invitation, then pass the new password on yourself.

Remove access

Choose Remove Access on the same tab to sign the client out of portal login entirely — this asks for confirmation first. The client's data, courses and bundles are untouched; only the ability to sign in themselves is switched off. You can enable it again later with a new password.

If something isn't working

The Portal Access tab shows a warning instead of the password form

The client has no Email Address. Add one on the Email tab first — it's used as the portal login username.

"Passwords do not match"

New Password and Confirm Password were typed differently. Retype both, or use Suggest password and copy it into both fields.

"Password must be at least 8 characters"

The password is too short. Eight characters is the minimum accepted.

"Failed to send invitation email"

The server's mail configuration rejected the send. The password is still set even though the email didn't go out — share the login details another way in the meantime.

What next

A client with nothing assigned yet has an empty portal. Give them something to see it with.
